Public Litter Bins

Mid Devon District Council has received a number of complaints from Willand residents with respect to the public litter bins, which are being used to dispose of household waste, either inside of the bin or alongside the bins.

They have also received reports of a fuel can being left inside a bin, and what appears to be business waste.

Not only is the above concerning in respect of public safety, it also prevents the bins from being used properly i.e. for the purpose of disposing of litter.  They are becoming fuller quicker, which can lead to littering issues and the area looking unsightly.

Household waste should be disposed of as per your normal collection dates, any household waste found within or around a public litter bin could lead to a Fixed Penalty Notice being issued.

If you have considerable waste requirements you may be eligible for a 2nd bin, information on this and how to apply can be found on Mid Devon District Council’s website or by calling the Customer First Team on 01884 255255.
